Kashif Rizvi, DDS, MS / About

Less, but better.

Dentistry at the intersection of science, structure, and artistry.

01 / Philosophy

Purpose in every detail.

My approach to dentistry is shaped by clinical science, but also by a lifelong interest in architecture, art, and design.

I'm drawn to the clarity of Mies van der Rohe, the thoughtful utility of Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé, the relationship between form and environment in Frank Lloyd Wright's work, and Dieter Rams's belief in doing less, but better.

For me, these ideas translate into dentistry through restraint, proportion, material selection, and respect for function. A restoration should belong naturally to the person wearing it. Every contour and decision should have a reason.

Less is more does not mean compromising care. It means avoiding the unnecessary, planning deliberately, and pursuing results where beauty and function are inseparable.

As a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, I value continued learning and the careful refinement of aesthetic and restorative techniques.

02 / Perspective

Art changes how I see.

Contemporary art is another source of perspective. The work of Richard Hunt, Nina Chanel Abney, Hebru Brantley, and Rashid Johnson offers different ways of thinking about form, material, identity, and expression.

I also enjoy photography, particularly the geometry, light, and architectural character of Chicago. These interests sharpen my attention to details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

03 / Discipline

The work before the finish.

Running has taught me the value of patience, consistency, and preparation. Completing the Chicago Marathon was a personal milestone, but the greater lesson was in the months of training that made it possible.

I see a parallel in dentistry: thoughtful planning, repeated refinement, and countless small decisions ultimately shape the result.

04 / Outside the studio

Curiosity beyond dentistry.

Outside the office, I love good food, exploring new places, and spending time with my wife and our three cats. These moments, along with art, architecture, photography, and running, keep me curious and grounded.
